Hi there! My name is Natalie, and I’m a creative.
I was 5 or so when I did my first real lasting piece of artwork. I can remember walking out of my house, down the front steps of my porch, picking up a rock, climbing onto the trunk of my mom’s car, and carving the word “Jesus” into it.. with a backwards J. When asked about it, I don’t think she was pleased, so I denied doing it. (But apparently the backwards J had busted me, oh well!)
In elementary school through high school, I learned how to play trumpet and baritone, and then trombone became my main instrument. After high school, I didn’t really know where I could take my trombone talents, so I learned how to play guitar by watching YouTube videos.
When I was 12, I got my hands on Photoshop and just started creating desktop backgrounds and inspirational graphics like there was no tomorrow. I’d watch hours of tutorials and just learn as I went. I went on to college and got a degree in graphic design.
When I was 26 or so, I bought my first camera, having no idea how to use it, but always being curious. Eventually I got more serious about it and was even surprised when I started “liking” the pictures that I was taking, so I started pursuing it more seriously. Looking at tons of other photographers and watching countless hours of videos, yet at the same time finding my own style.
My faith in Jesus is a big part of why I believe in creativity. I feel the absolute closest to my Creator when I am creating. I believe there is something amazing that happens someone create's something. Whether its art, a photograph, a song.. it didn’t exist until someone took a risk and launched it into reality.
Thank you for stopping by and reading, and I so look forward to creating and capturing memories for you that will last a life time.
